New Crane Safety Law
In
2007 Washington State Legislature passed a new Crane Safety Legislation
that mandates new licensing requirements for both Crane Certification
and and Crane Operators in the State of Washington.
Labor and Industries has gone through the
process to draft the rules that will implement the law. The AGC
participated heavily in this process with input on experience
requirements etc.
The new law will go into affect on
January 1, 2010
stating that construction cranes, including boom trucks, will
need to be certified and all crane operators will need to be licensed
through a process that requires both documented operating hours of
experience and the NCCCO Written and Practical Certifications.
Even though it seems like you have a lot
of time to prepare we strongly advise you to start documenting crane
operator hours NOW and preparing
your operators with the proper training and NCCCO Certifications that
will be required. The documentation of hours will take time to acquire
and must be documented by the employer. Preparation of crane
certification should also be started now to be sure your cranes are in
compliance when the new law goes into affect. The AGC is proud to offer
this training/testing to our members. Please contact Danette Larson at
509-535-0391 or dlarson@nwagc.org for more information. You can also
visit this ling to the
L&I website regarding this rule and the details.
