Contract Documents & Contractual Relationships

Learn what you need to know about the "magic" paperwork that can make or break your project. Participants will learn the major differences between the tree main form contracts (AIA, AGC, EJDC) and "home grown" contracts. Time during this seminar will also be spent on learning tools to decipher key contract clauses which may have an important impact on your project. Attendees will also learn the different types of delivery methods common in construction and their pros and cons.

Basics of Safety Plans

Presented by: Doug Lydig, Lydig Construction

Keep WISHA from your door and protect your bottom line. This introductory class will focus on the proper documentation related to specific safety plans that may be needed during the construction process and how it relates to Sate and Federal regulations. Focus will be on; when a written safety plan is required and for what tasks, as well as, what should be included and who completes it. How do you know the plan is effective in practice? Find out how a proper safety plan can protect your company from litigation. Templates for plans will be provided during class.

Getting Paid

Learn key strategies to ensure you get paid for the work you do. This seminar will take the participant through the critical contract clauses which bear on payment issues for contract work as well as changed or extra work claims. The attendees will discuss and learn techniques for claim recognition and preservation and the importance of preserving claims once identified. Methods of securing rights to getting paid will also be briefly discusses.

Dealing with Subcontractors and Suppliers

How to get the most from those that can make you look good or bad. Dealing with subcontractors and suppliers should be an enjoyable way to build important business relationships. However, most of us have "horror stories" from times when things didn't go so well. This class is designed to help you avoid the "horror stories." It will focus on ways to clearly communicate expectations in the three main elements of every project; scope, schedule and cost. The class will include many practical suggestions to help make your future dealings with subs and suppliers more enjoyable and profitable for everyone involved.
